My name is Jonah

I'm a Brooklyn-based online media and communications strategist, specializing in web design/development, social media, and email marketing. I'm adept with HTML, CSS, a number of email marketing services (SALSA, NGP VAN, Vertical Response) and all major social media platforms, and familiar with jQuery/Javascript, WordPress customization, Photoshop, and video editing software. I also have extensive professional experience in government, organizing, and advocacy. For the past year and a half, I've been lucky to work for Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer (@ScottMStringer) as his new media associate. In this role, I manage the Borough President's social media and blast emails and work on a variety of long-term digital projects. I also handle traditional communications work, such as drafting advisories and briefings/talking points and helping run press conferences. Prior to joining Borough President Stringer's office, I worked for New York City Councilmember Brad Lander for 18 months, climbing from scheduler/office manager to district director. In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, and chess. I'm a pretty good runner (2:45 marathon), an "amateur reader" (to quote J.D. Salinger), and a lousy chess player. I have the musical taste of a 35-year-old ex-punk. I talk about all this and more on twitter.
